Uses of Mabura Tablet

Mabura 40mg/1ml injection is a biologic medication by binding TNFα and reduce the inflammatory response and used for the treatment in adult

  1. Rheumatoid arthritis

  2. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis

  3. Psoriatic arthritis

  4. Ankylosing spondylitis

  5. Crohn’s disease

In children used for the treatment of crohn’s disease.

Side effects of Mabura Tablet

While using Mabura if any symptoms of lymphoma occurs then stop the drug and call the doctor

  • Fever, sweating in night, loss of weight

  • Tenderness in upper stomach and spread to shoulder

  • Hemorrhage, fast heart rate, pale skin

  • Liver problems – nausea, upper stomach pain decreased appetite, dark urine, clay colored stool, jaundice

  • Signs of tuberculosis – fever with ongoing cough, weight loss

  • Vision problems

  • Shortness of breath with swelling of your ankles or feet.

Common side effects:

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sinus pain, sneezing

  • Rash

  • Redness, bruising, itching

How to use Mabura Tablet

  1. Rheumatoid arthritis

Adult dose is 40mg subcutaneously every other week and using as monotherapy may increase to weekly dosing.

  1. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis

          Child: ≥ 4yr 15 to < 30kg : 20mg every other week ; ≥ 30kg: 40mg every other week

  1. Psoriatic arthritis

Adult : 40mg  every other week as single dose

  1. Ankylosing spondylitis

Adult : 40mg  every other week as single dose

  1. Crohn’s disease

Adult: initially 160mg, administer as four 40mg injection in 1 day or as two 40mg dose injection for 2 consecutive days followed by 80mg 2 week after the initial dose (day 15)

Maintenanance: after 2 week (day 29): 40mg dose for every other week, If needed can increase to 40mg weekly.

Review treatment:  If no response within 8 or 12 week of therapy

  1. Plaque psoriasis

Intially adult dose is 80mg and maintenance  40mg every other week beginning 1 week after 1st dose.

Mabura 40mg/1ml is administrated by subcutaneous injection. Administered  under the skin in the upper thighs or stomach

Over dosage: The patients in clinical trials have given Dose upto 10mg/kg. If over dosage occurs patient should monitored for any signs or symptoms of adverse reaction or effects and provide appropriate symptomatic treatment immediately.

How to Mabura Tablet works:

Mabura 40mg/1ml is a recombinant DNA-derived human Ig G1 monoclonal antibody that binds to human tumour necrosis factor alfa (TNF-α), thus inhibits the cytokine-driven inflammatory processes.
Absorption:  Time to peak plasma concentration: Approx 3-8 days and the Bioavailability is 64%.
Distribution: Mabura crosses the placenta which enters into breast milk. Volume of distribution: 4.7-6 L.
Excretion: Terminal end elimination half-life: Approx 2 wk.

Expert Advice for Mabura Tablets

  • Before taking this medicine, If you are allergic to adalimumab avoid using the medicine.
  • If you have signs of infection: fever, chills, sweats. Muscle pain, cough, bloody mucus or feeling constantly tried.
  • Mabura do not given to child younger than 2years old ( or 6 years old If treating Crohn’s disease.
  • Inform your doctor If you have had:
  1. Tuberculosis
  2. Cancer
  3. Hepatitis B
  4. Diabetes
  5. Congestive heart failure
  6. Allergy to latex rubber
  • If you have recently traveled or plan to travel, can be exposed to infection

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to pregnant, be sure doctor giving Mabura injection by caring the newborn babies

Special Warnings of Mabura Tablets


Alcohol interaction is unknown with Mabura injection .please consult with the doctor.


In animal reproduction studies has not discussed about fetal risk but there are no adequate studies in pregnant women. There is no risk in any trimesters. Mabura 40mg/1ml injection is safe to use during pregnancy.


There is no adverse reaction is reported on breastfed infants and no effects on milk production. Hence Mabura injection is probably safe to use during breastfeeding.


Mabura 40mg/1ml may cause room spinning sensation and vision disturbances. This  side effects may affects your driving ability. Avoid driving unless you feeling well.


Patients with kidney disease have limited information on use of  Mabura 40mg/1ml injection. Please consult with the doctor.


Patients with liver disease have limited information on use of  Mabura 40mg/1ml injection. Please consult with the doctor.

Missed Dosage

The drug dose is missed, then take the drug dose as soon as possible. If next dose time arrived then skip the missed dose and continue the routine schedule. Avoid taking extra dose or 2 dose at one time. Please consult your doctor for further clarification.
