Entaliv 0.5MG is a type of classification of antiviral drug and indicated to use for the treatment of HBV in adults and children (>2yrs). It is not a cure for hepatitis but inhibits the virus from multiplying in body. Whether entaliv is not known will prevent cirrhosis or liver cancer.
Uses of Entaliv
Entaliv 0.5mg in adult and children < 2yrs, and its mainly used for treatment of long lasting Hepatitis B infection. The infection caused by Hepatitis B virus in liver. This infection will damage the liver and cause liver failure or liver cancer. The reducing of hepatitis B virus quantity in body is carried out by Entaliv tablet. Entaliv, after liver transplantation of the replication of HBV is prevented. Entaliv is indicated for HIV the selected patient resistance to lamivudine and Emtricitabine, hence its not prescribed for both HIV-HBV patient without fully stopping Entaliv drug.
Side effects of Entaliv
Entaliv 0.5mg causes mild to moderate side effects : Weakness, Tiredness, Head pain, lethargy, Nausea & Vomiting, low heartbeat , Light Headedness, pain in stomach, Muscle ache, Cold Legs, weight loss , Yellow colour change in Skin And Urine, Lightish colour change in Bowel Movements, Dyspnea, Dizziness. How to use Entaliv
Entecavir prescribed for chronic hepatitis C virus infection and dose is 0.5mg in compensated liver disease in adults and adolescents 16 years of age and older.
Entaliv given one tablet of 0.5mg once daily.
Entaliv 0.5mg administrated on an empty stomach for atleast 2hrs after a meal or before the next meal.
Pediatric dose :
2 to 15 years for therapy new patients.
10 to 11 kg: 0.15 mg orally once a day
>11 to 14 kg: 0.2 mg orally once a day
>14 to 17 kg: 0.25 mg orally once a day
>17 to 20 kg: 0.3 mg orally once a day
>20 to 23 kg: 0.35 mg orally once a day
> 23 to 26 kg: 0.4 mg orally once a day
> 26 to 30 kg: 0.45 mg orally once a day
> 30 kg: 0.5 mg orally once a day.
OVERDOSAGE: If patients had single entecavir doses of 40mg or double dose of 20mg/day till 14days has no evidence of increase or any adverse effect. If overdose occurs then provide immediately supportive and symptomatic measurements such as vitals signs of toxicity of medicine.

Entacavir is belongs to the classification of antiviral drug and an nucleoside analogue show action against hepatitis B virus polymerase is effectively phosphorylated to the active triphosphate form, which require an intracellular half life of 15 hours.
