Gefticip 250mg is an anticancer drug and it belongs to class of medication known as kinase inhibitors.
Gefticip 250mg is a target treatment of metastatic non- small cell lung cancer which spread beyond lungs and have some type of abnormal EGFR genes in people.
Uses of Gefticip
Gefticip 250mg tablet is indicated for the treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with certain type of abnormal epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
Side effects of Gefticip
Common side effects in Gefticip 250mg (occurring in greater than 30%):
Loose stools; skin reaction
Less common in Gefticip 250mg (occurring in about 10-29%):
- Poor appetite
- Eye irritation
How to use Gefticip
Patient is selected by the first-line treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with Gefticip based on presence of EGFR exon 19 deletion or exon 21 (l858R) substitution mutation in their tumor.
Prescribed dose of Gefticip 250mg
In adult 250mg once in a day and given with or without food until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
If patient have difficulty in swallowing tablet then immerse the tablet in 4 to 8 ounce of water for approx 15 mints and drink the liquid. Rinse with water of same level and immediately administer it.
OVERDOSAGE: Gefticip has no specific treatment for the overdose.an increase of dose frequency and severity of some adverse reaction was observed like diarrhea and skin rash.

EGFR is a kind of protein found on the surface of cells in your body. Mutated EGFR plays a part in cancer growth by sending out signals that make the cells grow and divide.
But Gefticip may make a difference for you.attaches itself to certain abnormal types of the EGFR protein on your lung cancer cells. By doing so, it has been shown to slow down the growth of these cells and may help reduce the size of your tumors.
ABSORPTION: slow absorbed from GI tract, the bioavailability shows of approx 60% and peak plasma concentration time is 3-7hr.
DISTRIBUTION: volume of distribution in Gefticip is 1400L and plasma bounding is approx 90%.
METABOLISM: Gefticip metabolized by hepatic via CYP3A4 and CYP2D6. It has major metabolites is o-desmethylgeftinib.
ELIMINATION: Gefticip 250mg eliminated through faeces (86%) and urine (<4%) and terminal half life is 41-48 hr.

Pirorly taking Gefticip treatment, confirmly inform your consultant about other prescription drugs, vitamin, herbal drugs, avoid aspirin and drug containg aspirin unless doctor specifically allow.
For pregnant women and partner men: while taking Gefticip, do not conceive or use contraception methods. Discuss with your doctor when you may safely become pregnant or conceive a child after treatment

It is unknown whether Gefticip passes into breast milk , avoid breast-feed while on Gefticip treatment.

Alcohol interaction with Gefticip 250mg is unknown. Please consult with the doctor.
Category D: Gefticip 250mg show human fetal risk, but the use in pregnant women may be occur even with the risk . It is ineffective while the drug needed for life threatening situation.
In animal studies show that Gefticip 250mg and metabolite is present in milk of lactating rats. Hence while on treatment discontinue the breast feeding.
Avoid driving unless you feeling well, while treatment with Gefticip 250mg you will feel dizzy, weekness and It affects the ability to drive.
Gefticip 250mg tablet should be used with caution in severe kidney problem patients. Ose adjustment is need. Please consult with the doctor.
Gefticip 250mg is safe to use in patients with liver disease, limited data available. Dose adjustment may not be needed. Please consult with the doctor.
If you missed a dose take it as soon as possible, if time reach for next dose, then skip missed dose and continue regular schedule. Do not take extra or 2 dose at a time. Please consult with doctor.
