Glenza Description

Glenza 40mg is a type of classification of anti- androgen. Glenza 40mg medicine is a hormone treatment and effective. It contain Enzalutamide 40mg as active ingredient. Uses of Glenza

Glenza 40mg is clinically effective and indicated in the treatment of anti tumor activity of MDV3100 in a phase I/II study of castration resistant prostate cancer.

Side effects of Glenza

While taking Glenza 40mg  consult with doctor immediately if any of the side effects occurs.

More common

Lumbar pain, Bloating of face, arms, hands, lower legs or feet.

Blurred vision, chest pain, breathing difficulty, loss of bladder control, nervousness.

Less common

Anxiety, excitement, fainting, loss of memory, rapid and shallow breathing

How to use Glenza

In adult usual dose is 160mg orally

Glenza available dose 40mg hence four capsule of 40mg dose given once daily.

Administrated once in a day has four tablet of 40mg capsule with or without food at same time every day.

Taken as a capsule by mouth, Swallow the capsule whole

Do not crush or chew or dissolve capsule.

OVERDOSE OF GLENZA: If overdose occur, will cause seizure. Seek emergency medical attention or call poison helpline.

How to Glenza works

Glenza 40mg is an anti-androgen drug and it prevents androgen  receptor inhibitor that acts on different stages in the androgen receptor communicating pathway.

Glenza 40mg has been shown to repetitively interfere with androgen linking to androgen receptors and prevents androgen receptor nuclear translocation and interaction with DNA.

Glenza 40mg has a major metabolite, N‑desmethyl enzalutamide, show invitro activity to glenza.

Glenza 40mg reduce proliferation and induced cell death of prostate cancer cells inside the body, and lowers tumor volume in a mouse prostate cancer xenografts model.

ABSORPTION: Bioavailabilty of Glenza in human is unknown and in rate is 89.7%. peak plasma concentration is 1 hour (range 0.5 to 3 hours).

DISTRIBUTION: Plasma protein binding is 97 to 98% and metabolite N-desmethylenzalutamide

METABOLISM: The drug is metabolite in the liver by CYP2C8 and CYP3A4.

ELIMINATION: Excreted via urine 71.0%, bile in 13.6% and feces in 0.39%

 Half life is 5.8 days, with range of 2.8 to 10.2 days.

In animal reproduction studies, there is a adverse effect for fetal, hence no human data on the use of Glenza in pregnancy. Glenza 40mg  is contraindicated in women during pregnancy and cause fetal death and potential loss of pregnancy.


Glenza 40mg is not recommended to use in females. There is no information available in presence of Glenza in human milk. The effects in the nursing infants are unknown.


While taking this drug dizziness occurs, It will affect the ability of driving. Avoid driving unless you feeling well.


When patients with mild ,moderate kidney disease no adjustment recommended. Patients with severe kidney problem or ESRD use with caution is recommended.


Glenza 40mg has no dosage adjustment is necessary in mild or severe renal impairment. Caution recommended in moderate liver disease in patients.

Missed Dosage

If you missed a dose take it as soon as possible, if time reach for next dose, then skip missed dose and continue regular schedule. Do not take extra or 2 dose at a time. Please consult with the doctor.
