Velpanat is a fixed dose combination of Sofosbuvir 400mg and Velpatasvir 100mg and used alone regimen or with ribavirin for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection (HCV i.e recent viral infection which cause liver damage). Both the drugs are antiviral medications in which Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir combination works by blocking the virus which cause hepatitis C infection from spreading inside body.

How to use Velpanat Tablet
Velpanat is fixed combination which contains Sofosbuvir 400mg and Velpatasvir 100mg indicated for chronic HCV infection and HCV genotype 1,2,3,4,5,& 6 infection.
Oral route of administration
1 tablets of Sofosbuvir 40mg / velpatasvir 100mg once daily.
Take the tablet at same time every day.
If overdose occurs: Velpanat overdose has no specific antidote available, If it occur patient should monitor for evidence of toxicity and provide supportive measure treatment including vitals, clinical status observation of patient or seek to emergency medical department or call poison control helpline.
How to Velpanat Tablet works:
Velpanat 400mg/100mg is a direct-acting antiviral agents against the hepatitis C virus.
Sofosbuvir 400mg is HCV NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase inhibitors, which is enforced for viral poliferation. Sofosbuvir will form the pharmacologically active uridine analog triphosphate (GS-461203) by undergoing intracellular metabolism and it will integrated into HCV RNA by using NS5B polymerase and work as a chain terminator. Most specifically it will reduce the amount of hepatitis virus inside the body.
Velpatasvir 100mg is a antiviral regimen which is an inhibitors of HCV NS5A protein and needed for viral multiplication. Resistance collection in cell culture and cross-resistance studies express velpatasvir binds the NS5A as its mode of action.

Elimination: Sofosbuvir major route is renal clearance via urine 80% and14% in feces and 2.5% in expired air. Velpatasvir major route is biliary excretion and dose eliminated 94% in feces and 0.4% in urine.
Half life of Sofosbuvir is 0.5hours, its GS-331007 is 25 hours and Velpatasvir is 15 hours.

Kidney problem with mild to moderate renal impairment have no dose adjustment required and patient with severe problem or ESRD require dose adjustments and use the Velpanat400mg/100mg with caution. Please consult with doctor before using drug
Velpanat 400mg/100mg is safe to use with hepatic problem. No dose adjustment required for those patient. For further information consult with your doctor. But for some patients liver function test should be monitor on treatment with Velpanat tablet.
